New Year, New Goals!

Hard to believe it’s 2018… don’t we say that at the start of each new year? ha! When I think about what lies ahead for 2018, my firstborn will be turning 7 (whaaaat?), my sweet little baby will be 3, my fur babies will be 11 and 9 (whoa), and we will be entering our second summer in this new house. Before 2017 ended, I told myself that I would start a personal 365 project for the new year. Well, here we are, day 12, and I haven’t even come close to photographing my every day. Whoops! So maybe I’ll aim for a 52 week project instead, hehe.

Photography is a journey. A road to self expression. A release through creating art. And that journey can change and morph as you go along. Just like life. I have seen my journey take a turn back to what drew me to photography in the first place. Dramatic lighting. I am obsessed with low-light images right now! I have been examining the light in every room of my house, at various times of the day, and asking myself, “what part of our day can I photograph in this light?”. So far, my kitchen is my absolute favourite room to photograph. We recently replaced on of our lenses, so today at lunch I took a few shots of Carys on this super grey day. <3

For 2018, I hope that I can creatively capture my kids daily goings on in a new fresh light. In 2017, I picked up my camera for personal photos more than I had in previous years. Here’s hoping I can top that in 2018! Fingers crossed ;)
