The Hancock Family – Summer Session

Summer session family portrait in the field! I love summer. I love portraits. It makes total sense that I love summer portraits! HA, ok that was cheesy. But really, even though fall is my busiest time of the year for outdoor portraits, I really do love photographing families in the summer months. The air is warm, the sun stays up so much later, and no one gets cold ;) This particular evening, the golden rod was just starting to appear, and the air was warm, the sky was clear, it was a gorgeous night to be out for family portraits.

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful family a few times over the years. The first time was back in 2014 when their youngest was brand new! Now they’re all getting so tall, and their eldest is catching up to Mom.

We had the most perfect summer evening, and we took to the field and captured their connection. I love to photograph in the field at golden hour. I want my clients to feel comfortable and relaxed, not rushed, and that is when their true personalities come out. They can be themselves and play, run, laugh, tickle each other and just interact with one another. This always makes for more genuine and connected images! And this family did just that.

I’ve had a lot of requests for mini sessions this fall (as I do every fall), but the truth is, my style of capturing connection and lifestyle is better suited to a full session where no one is feeling rushed. Rushed amount of time translates into stiff and awkward poses, and that’s not what I want to capture for my clients. So for now, I will continue to not offer minis. I mean, why change a good thing? ;)

If you are interested in booking a fall family portrait, I have room for only 1 more session this year. Contact me today to inquire about dates and session fees. I would love to create something beautiful for your walls.
