Summer light is gorgeous!
It’s golden, soft and adds so much beauty to an evening summer portrait session. This beautiful family called me up at the end of August. Kristal was hoping to book a family session while her parents were in town. Extended family sessions and summer evenings are a great combination. Not to mention, that Kristal found me based off of a referral. YAY! I love getting referrals. As a small business owner, the best compliment is referrals from happy and satisfied customers. And this lovely family came to me through a referral from a client I photographed two years prior.
Capturing Connection
My goal is to always capture your connection with those you love the most. That’s why you booked your session, isn’t it? Your session is never rushed. I like to run though some simple posing and some games (for younger kids) to get everyone relaxed and having fun. When you’re all having fun, your posing and reactions are much more genuine. And that really shines through in your portraits. Sometimes my clients are the ones to tell me the jokes (which is awesome because I am always bad at remembering jokes to retell them, ha!), and sometimes they will share a talent they have (like singing or dancing). Other times small kids will run to show me how fast they are. Those are all the makings of wonderful portraits!
This family was no different. Kristal brought her parents along, and they told me they were married 50 years. What a milestone! I asked them who is the funny one, and they both just giggled at me. So I I’m thinking that’s their secret to a long and happy marriage – laughter!
