Extended Family Portrait
Extended family portrait sessions are some of my favourites to capture! There are so many dynamics within the large group, and it offers up opportunities to capture a variety of connections. Each family has an opportunity to update their own family portrait, as well as capture the entire family together! A good rule of thumb is to make a list of the important groupings that you wish to record. Armed with a wish-list will ensure we capture what is important to you. It will also help to determine the amount of time that is needed, as planning is the key to a successful session.
Sentimental Locations
I had the pleasure of working with this beautiful extended family this summer as they celebrated their parents 40th wedding anniversary! They gathered on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, the sun was warm and the breeze was perfect. They requested their photos be taken at their parents home in Port Perry. Their yard offered a beautiful backdrop, with huge trees and beautiful gardens. Using a location that is near and dear to you can offer sentimental value to your portraits. Whether is your family home, your cottage or perhaps even a spot you frequent together, choosing a special place adds meaning and storytelling.
